CIS/2 Export

Used to export Structural model information to the CIS/2 (CIMsteel Integration Standards) file format for structural detailing.

Accessed from:
  • Backstage: File > Export > Structural > CIS/2 Export

SettingDescription
Export to file: Displays and browses for the name and path of the exported STEP file. By default, the name is the Structural model plus the *.stp extension.
Log file: Displays and browses for the name and path of the translation event log file. By default, the name is the Structural model plus the *.log extension.
Reference files
  • Process the master file only – All structural members in the active file are exported.
  • Process the master and reference files – All active reference files are scanned for structural members for export.
ExportMode
  • Manufacturing – Exports to the manufacturing portion of the CIS/2 model. Includes information about the steel structure's assembly components like gusset plates, bolts and welds.
  • Design – Exports to the design portion of the CIS/2 model. Includes information about steel structures as design assemblies detailing members and their connections.
Include Reaction Forces When on, analytical information about reaction forces is exported.
Note: The Manufacturing model does not support reaction forces so when the primary export model is set to Manufacturing the Include Reaction Forces option is disabled.
Export Handrails as
  • Located Assembly – Handrails are exported as a single structural entity.
  • Individual Components – Handrails are exported as a collection of individual members.
Export curve as polyline Turn on this check box to export a curved line as a polyline, rather than a curved member. If the program which will read the CIS/2 file does not support curved members, the polyline will provide an approximation of the curved member in your exported file.
Export Shear Stud Coordinates When on, shear stud Structural data is exported. Shear Stud information controls the import and export of shear stud counts and must be defined for models imported from analysis applications and exported CIS/2 models. The value contains the number of studs associated with a member. Multiple groups of studs are represented by a series of integers. They are usually present when a member has other members connected to it and the stud counts are divided along the member. In a typical workflow, the stud size and layout positions along a member are provided by the downstream steel detailing application.
File information Structural project information can be exported along with the model by keying in the relevant information in the available text fields.
